YIMBY Day of Action - Support Affordable Housing in Chevy Chase

Show up to support affordable housing in one of DC's most exclusionary neighborhoods

On Saturday, March 29, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) will host a Disposition Meeting to discuss plans for the Chevy Chase Civic Core. Developers will present options for redevelopment, including a new state-of-the-art library, community center, vibrant outdoor space, and much-needed housing—with dedicated affordable units. The meeting will be held in-person with a virtual option.

We know opposition will be strong, as NIMBY voices aim to keep Chevy Chase exclusionary. That's why we need YIMBYs like you to show up in force and send a clear message to city officials: DC needs more housing.

The tentative meeting schedule is below - it lasts all day, as if it was designed in a lab to shut-out people with things to do on a Saturday.

  • 8:30 AM – Doors open
  • 9:00 AM – Event begins
  • 9:25 AM – Presentations by bidders
  • 2:00 PM – Open house begins
  • 3:00 PM – Public forum begins

We're not asking you to be there for eight hours. The key is to make our voices heard at the public forum - starting at 3:00.

RSVP to join us in-person or virtually.

  • In-person – we'll meet up ahead of time and go over strategy and talking points
  • Virtually – we'll send some suggested talking points via email in advance. You should also sign up with DMPED to get the link to attend.

Your presence can make all the difference. Let's keep the momentum going and build a more inclusive D.C.!
